Export ginger needs to be mature, clean and dry to survive transit and storage.
Ginger is graded by rhizome size and shape. Damaged, sprouted or mouldy pieces are removed.
Soil is washed off and surface moisture dried before packing to prevent rot.
Common packs are mesh bags or cartons of 3 to 13 kg, shipped by reefer for longer routes.
